PromptChief — Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser to remember information between page visits. This Cookie Policy covers the PromptChief website (promptchief.tech), the web app, and the Chrome extension.

2. Marketing / Info Website (promptchief.tech)

The marketing pages use self-hosted analytics (Matomo) to understand traffic and improve PromptChief. Matomo is hosted on our own server — no data is sent to third parties.

Analytics are only loaded after you click Accept Analytics in the cookie banner. If you decline, no cookies are set and no analytics load. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.

When analytics are active, Matomo may set _pk_id (13 months) and _pk_ses (30 minutes) cookies. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent.

All fonts are self-hosted — no Google Fonts or other external requests that could set cookies.

3. Web App (promptchief.tech/app)

The web app uses the following strictly necessary storage to function:

localStorage — Stores your auth token, user ID, email, and preferences (theme, view settings) client-side after login. Not a cookie, but similar in purpose.
Session cookies — Supabase (our backend, hosted in Dublin, Ireland, EU) may set a short-lived session cookie during authentication. This is strictly necessary for login functionality and expires when you close your browser or log out.

Legal basis: strictly necessary for the service to function (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — contract performance).

4. Checkout / Payment (Paddle)

When you initiate a subscription checkout, the Paddle.com payment overlay loads in your browser. Paddle may set cookies and use local storage to maintain your checkout session and prevent fraud.

These are strictly necessary for payment processing. Paddle is the Merchant of Record and responsible for their own cookie usage. See paddle.com/legal/privacy for details.

5. Chrome Extension

The extension does not use browser cookies. All data is stored via Chrome's chrome.storage APIs, which are sandboxed to the extension and cannot be accessed by websites you visit.

7. Managing Cookies

You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that clearing web app cookies will log you out of the PromptChief app. To manage extension data: Chrome → Extensions → PromptChief → Details → Clear storage, or uninstall the extension.
